BEYOND PROJECT REBOOT - Progressing the Horse's Training
Progress and build on your horse's solid foundation training to develop their posture and performance.
Learn to progress your horse's training to target posture & performance
Once you have nurtured a solid foundation in your horse, it is time to progress their training. This is because we need to teach the horse a number of responses that allow us to tap into the gymnastic development of their bodies. This is important because horses did not evolve to be ridden. This means that if we do not support the horse in developing its strength and posture to carry us, they can be at risk of injury down the track.
How Do We Support the Horse to Develop Strength & Posture?
We do this by teaching a number of key things:
1. DEVELOP CONTACT & CONNECTION:
Firstly, we develop our contact to help connect the body so that it is not divided and twisted by tension as the horse responds to our weight on their back.
2. LATERAL WORK:
We introduce basic lateral work, which acts like yoga or Pilates to target the development of the horse’s core strength. It also helps with joint mobility and strengthens the muscles needed for engagement and collection.
Beyond Reboot is a 4-week-program that guides participants through the steps of developing contact and then the most important lateral responses (rein yield, leg yield, shoulder in & travers).
The program is hosted in the Calm Willing Confident Horse (CWCH) Society Members group on Facebook and also on our dedicated Beyond Reboot Forum on this our site.
Beyond Reboot is for those that have worked hard on building a solid foundation on their horse and wish to progress their horses training with sensible, practice and effective guidance.
Beyond Reboot will be running from 10 February to 12 March 2025.
